Sapphire.

I miss hiking.  I miss getting so dirty it doesn't even matter anymore.

On our way to Rancho it was sprinkling.  Even after we parked the car it was sprinkling but we decided to hike anyways.  Sadly, I left my camera in the car.  It was a little like the San Dimas trail except not as gross.  San Dimas has a lot of stagnant water and I just feel like things are growing in it.  The river here is constantly moving.  Even when we were relatively far away you can hear the river.  It was great.  Absolutely great.  There is a lot of grafitti and litter (what's wrong with people??)  I guess it is 420 and we ran into some people smoking out.

Back to the trail... there was a trail, but it involved a lot of river/stream crossings, ducking, sliding down rocks, grabbing on to roots and trees.  It was awesome.  We had a genius idea to find the source but eventually the trail ended and we were left with just cliffs.  BUT!  There was a rope so you can get past the cliffs.  You just have to walk through the pool of water and be willing to climb up a wall as a waterfall is drenching your body.  No biggie.  Maybe on a hot day.

On our way back, there was something that looked like a trail.  It was an "in your face" hill.  But there was a definite "path" so we tried it.  Holding on to whatever we can and pulling/pushing ourselves up.  Rocks and loose dirt avalanching their way down.  Holding on what looks like a sturdy root only to find out it has already been pulled out and no where near sturdy.  Don't look down.  Definitely don't look down.  We intensely high fived at the top and followed the "path".  5 feet later it ended.  Awesome.  I don't think I've ever been more scared.  If we try to go back the way we came, that's a bad tumble especially with all the loose rocks.  If we keep going we're basically winging it.  There's no more trail to follow and we got pretty far from the river.  Bad idea.  We had no choice but to go back the way we got there.  I went... feet first.  Sitting and sliding down a very steep hill, grabbing on to braches to slow myself down.  Close to the end I hit a pile of loose dirt and rocks I suspect were from me.  And the best part, just when you think you can stand and walk out of it alive I stood up.  I ended up sliding down the rest... standing and nothing to hold on to.  It was like surfing on dirt!  It was so badass.  That whole thing was amazing!  That's it.
There is no funny angle going on.  That's how steep it was.
Waiting until I got to the bottom so rocks didn't hit me.
We were so stoked.  The hunger didn't hit me until we got back to houses and pavement.  Note to self:  eat more than 2 waffles before a hike.  Legends has never been so good.  Mushroom, avocado, egg, cheese and hasbrown fatty burrito??? Yes please :)

Later on we hit up San Dimas Farmer's Market where I indulged in mini donuts.  MINI DONUTS!
